DAY 1 (Monday, January 9, 2012)
I am grateful to have the opportunity to connect with you everyday for the next 21 Days and help you with a framework of things to focus on as you move forward in your 21 Day Fast.
If we are going to move forward effectively, then we need to acknowledge that we are not Fasting to be seen by men but to enter into and experience a deeper relationship with God.
Take time today to acknowlege who God is in your life. Acknowledge Him as the One who holds the seat at the center of your life and not just a religious corner; The God by which your entire life should revolve around. The God that deserves all honor and glory. The God that will lead you through this Fast and forward.
Matthew 6:6-8 puts it this way:
But you, when you pray, enter into your room. And shutting your door, pray to your Father in secret; and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you openly. But when you pray, do not babble vain words, as the nations. For they think that in their much speaking they shall be heard. Therefore do not be like them, for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask Him. Therefore pray in this way: Our Father, who is in Heaven, Hallowed be Your name. (MKJV)
I love the way the Message translation puts verses 8 and 9:
Don’t fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: Our Father in heaven, Reveal who you are. (Msg)
Here are some scripture verses to read and meditate on throughout the day:
1 Chronicles 16:8-10, Psalms 5:7, 34:8-9, 40:3, 99:5, John 4:24, 1 Corinthians 14:25, Hebrews 12:28, Revelation 4:10-11
Note: I recommend you begin a journal of your 21 day journey. You will be able to go back to your journal and remind yourself of the things you prayed about, the things you were able to see through scripture, and the things you felt God was speaking into your life.
In a journey with you,
Pastor Charles
