21 Day Fasting and Prayer Focus – Day 21

Word: Paradox – par·a·dox (ˈperəˌdäks/)

Definition: a seemingly absurd or self-contradictory statement or proposition that when investigated or explained may prove to be well founded or true.

Prayer:

Gracious God, help us to understand the paradox that trials and tribulations truly do lead to victories, miracles, and greater capacity. May we understand that the enemy of our soul has no power or authority over the children of God. May we acknowledge that all things do work for good to those that love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Gracious God, may the stretching seasons in our life only bring us closer to you and to the experience of everything you have in store for us. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!

Scriptures:

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle [you].

Word: Eternity

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, help us to live our lives with eternity in mind. What good would it be for anyone of us to gain the world but lose our soul. Help to be constant and consistent in fulfilling our mission in this world but may we do it with with eternity in mind. Deliver us from any obsession for the here and now. May we enjoy all things you provide us for our enjoyment but may we do so loosely. May we not attach ourselves so feverishly to them that we forget that what we do, what we have and how we manage it should have eternal value. May we share your love with such fervor knowing that everyone we come in contact with should know that we were created with eternity in mind. It is in your mighty name that we pray, AMEN!

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.

The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 | NIV

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
John 17:3 | NIV

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Word: Forgiveness
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, may we be open and wiling to forgive others just as you have forgiven us. Any weight of bitterness, guilt, resentment, or unforgiveness is too heavy to carry. In this life, we will be disliked, hurt and betrayed. You were too. Yet for a greater purpose you endured and forgave. For the glory of your name, peace of mind and healing of our hearts, may we forgive and be recipients of forgiveness as we too have hurt others. In your mighty name we pray, AMEN!

Scripture Verses:
Whoever would foster love covers over an offense,
but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Luke 6:37 | NIV

You, Lord, are forgiving and good,
abounding in love to all who call to you.

And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.
Acts 3:19 | NIV

And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.
Mark 11:25 | NIV

Word: Community

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, may my heart, mind and efforts be inclined to the needs of my community. I pray that the passion that was in you to reach the lost, the hurting, the marginalized, would also be in me. May my Christian life extend way beyond the “church” walls and may I serve as an extension of your eyes, ears, hands and feet. In Your mighty name I pray, AMEN!

Scripture Verses:

Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

“But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?

Word: Encourage
Prayer:

Lord Jesus, in a world filled with vicious attacks, negativity, and insults help me to speak encouragement to all those I come in contact with. Lord, even in my affliction, your promise gives me life (Psalm 119:50). So may I be light in the midst of darkness and speak forth the life of your word among family, peers, friends, church, community and even foes. May I channel all of life’s challenges through the power of your encouraging Word. In your mighty name I pray, AMEN!

Scripture Verses:

Pleasant words are a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

“So therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” So he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.

Your words have helped the tottering to stand, And you have strengthened feeble knees.

A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

She opens her mouth in wisdom, And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of disciples, That I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.

Then he spoke kindly to him and set his throne above the thrones of the kings who were with him in Babylon.

And all were speaking well of Him, and wondering at the gracious words which were falling from His lips; and they were saying, “Is this not Joseph’s son?”

Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, But a good word makes it glad.

21 Day Fasting and Prayer Focus – Day 16 (Monday)

Word: Fight

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, like Paul’s words to Timothy, help us to understand that although you have won the ultimate victory and have provided us with forgiveness of sins and eternal life, in this life we will fight. Lord, we don’t fight in the flesh but we do fight through challenges, persecution, betrayal, sickness…Lord help us to understand that every fight has its victory and promotion. We want to say like Paul, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. In your name we pray, AMEN!

Scripture Verses:

Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Cor. 10:3-5

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith.1 Pet. 5:8-9

No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; and every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their vindication is from Me, declares the Lord.Is. 54:17

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Eph. 6:11-17

In all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Rom. 8:37

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor. 15:57

Word: Reciprocal

Prayer:

Gracious God, help us to understand that no relationship is one-sided. That whether in familial, friendship, marital or ministry relationships, we are both givers and receivers. Deliver us from any mindset or action that cause to take much but give little.Help us to understand that just as you freely gave your Only Begotten Son for us, we too should learn to freely give of the time, talents, and treasures you have so graciously blessed us with. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!

Scripture Verses:

One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
and do not return to it without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews’ spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings.

If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you?

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Word: Study

Word: Determination

Prayer:
Gracious God, help us to learn from those that lived victoriously before us; people like Joshua and Caleb, Elijah and Elisha, David, Nehemiah and even people like Martin Luther King Jr. who pushed through with determination despite obstacles and opposing circumstances. May we be determined to finish what we start. May we be determined to know and fulfill the tasks, vocation or ministry placed before us. And may we do it with excellence. May we have the determination to follow-through on our goals and promises. Gracious God I pray that if we falter or fall, with determination, may we get back up knowing that “we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us.”  In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

Scripture Verses:

“But you, be strong and do not lose courage, for there is reward for your work.”

Our heart has not turned back, And our steps have not deviated from Your way.

With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments.

He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; read more.
but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;

Word: Presence

Prayer:
Lord Jesus we need your presence. Help us to understand that we are not self-sufficient. Lord, you died, resurrected and sent us the Holy Spirit to be our counselor – our helper. Like Moses getting ready to lead your people into the promise land, help us to understand that God-size dreams will require more than mere personal effort and a good time schedule; it will require that we seek your presence through your Word, through prayer, through Worship and through a sensitivity to the voice of your Holy Spirit speaking to our inner being. In these uncertain times, may we be driven, more than anything else, to seek and live in your presence. In your mighty name, AMEN.

Scripture Verses:
Exodus 33:14 “And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

1 Chronicles 16: 27 “Honor and majesty are [found] in His presence; strength and joy are [found] in His sanctuary.”

Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Psalm 51: 11 “Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. ?

Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

Acts 3: 19 “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”

Revelation 21:3 “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.”
